Packing for a trip to Disney World while pregnant requires a bit of extra preparation to ensure your comfort and well-being throughout the day. You'll want to plan for hydration, comfort, and easy access to essentials. Here is a helpful packing list of items I brought with me while pregnant in Disney World!
1. Comfortable Clothing
Loose, breathable clothes: Opt for lightweight, moisture-wicking fabrics that will keep you cool in the Florida heat.
Comfortable shoes: Supportive, cushioned shoes are a must for walking around the parks. Consider sneakers or cushioned sandals with arch support.
Maternity wear: If you're in your second or third trimester, maternity clothing, like stretchy pants or dresses, will ensure maximum comfort.
Layers for varying weather: Florida’s weather can be unpredictable. Bring a lightweight jacket or sweater for cooler evenings.
2. Hydration & Snacks
Reusable water bottle: Staying hydrated is especially important during pregnancy, so bring a refillable water bottle to avoid dehydration. Remember, even if you're "not thirsty"- DRINK UP!
Healthy snacks: Pack pregnancy-friendly snacks like granola bars, crackers, dried fruit, or nuts for when you need a quick energy boost.
Electrolyte drinks: These can help prevent dehydration, especially if you're spending the whole day walking around in the sun.
3. Pregnancy Essentials
Prenatal vitamins: Don’t forget your daily supplements!
Pregnancy pillow or back support: If you’re in your second or third trimester and need extra back support, a portable pillow or a small support band can provide comfort during long waits or while sitting. I found this travel pillow here.
Compression socks: If you're prone to swelling, compression socks can help improve circulation during long days of walking.
Tums or heartburn relief: Pregnancy can bring on heartburn, so keep antacids or other recommended remedies on hand.
Hand sanitizer and wipes: Pregnancy can weaken your immune system, so it’s a good idea to sanitize your hands frequently and wipe down surfaces.
Anti Nausea: Morning sickness can happen at any time, so it's better to be prepared than not. Sea Bands (a bracelet type band that presses on pressure points in your wrist to reduce nausea), Preggie Pops, Benedryl, ginger chews, and even vomit bags. Always ask your doctor before taking any type of medication for morning sickness.
4. Personal Care & Beauty Products
Sunscreen: Florida sun can be intense, so make sure to pack pregnancy-safe sunscreen with a high SPF to protect your skin.
Lip balm with SPF: Your lips can get dry in the sun, so pack some lip balm to keep them moisturized.
Moisturizer: Carry a good lotion to keep your skin hydrated, especially if you're experiencing dryness or stretching.
Maternity-safe deodorant: Keep fresh throughout the day with your favorite deodorant, and consider a travel-size version for convenience.
5. Health & Safety Items
First Aid kit: Pack basic medical supplies, such as band-aids, pain relievers (approved for pregnancy), and any other essentials you might need.
Prescription medications: If you take any daily medications or supplements, be sure to have them on hand, along with a list of your prescriptions.
Copy of your medical records: It’s always a good idea to have a copy of your medical information in case of an emergency.
6. Electronics & Entertainment
Portable charger: You’ll be using your phone for photos, maps, and perhaps Disney's Lightning Lane system, so a portable charger is essential. I usually opt for a fuel rod since Disney has fuel rod stations in the park.
Headphones or earplugs: For quiet moments or to tune out the noise during some of the more lively attractions or shows.
Tablet/reading materials: If you need a break or have some downtime, bring a tablet or a book to relax with.
7. Park Essentials
Park tickets and reservation info: Make sure to have your park tickets, and any special event tickets readily available.
Rain gear: Florida weather can be unpredictable, so pack a poncho or a small umbrella to stay dry during afternoon showers.
Sunglasses and hat: Protect your eyes from the sun with a good pair of sunglasses and a wide-brimmed hat.
Cooling towel: Florida heat can be intense, so a cooling towel can help you stay comfortable throughout the day.
8. Special Pregnancy Items
Small fan: A portable, battery-operated fan can be a lifesaver for keeping cool. This one was a life saver in the hotel!
Extra pillows for seating: If you're going to be sitting on hard benches or waiting for shows, a small travel pillow can help cushion your back.
Back support belt: If you're feeling discomfort in your back, a pregnancy support belt can help alleviate some pressure while walking.
9. Emergency and Comfort Items
Medical contact info: It’s always a good idea to carry your doctor’s contact details or emergency contacts in case you need assistance.
Breast pads or nursing essentials: If you're nursing or plan to breastfeed, bring along the necessary supplies to prevent leaks.
Ziploc bags: For storing snacks, used tissues, or anything else you want to keep separate in your bag.
10. Bag to Carry It All
A comfortable, spacious bag: A well-organized, hands-free backpack or crossbody bag will help distribute the weight of all your items. Make sure it’s easy to access everything you need and that it’s light enough to carry comfortably.
Packing for Disney World while pregnant doesn’t have to be stressful. With the right essentials, you can enjoy your trip while staying comfortable and prepared for anything. Make sure to plan for hydration, comfort, and relaxation, and you’ll be ready for a magical time at the parks.
